As a model student of the Inceptum, where he was prepared for Cholaeic apprenticeship from 392 to 394, [A73] was hand-picked for his master Aquinas, who as a prestigious and vocal supporter of the Inceptum and as parens to one of its magi, was the beneficiary of a certain degree of favoritism from the covenant.

He was raised at Tempestatem Sedare until 401, when Aquinas, depressed and disheartened over the execution of his brother Augustine in Vestra, retired to Lapidis, bringing [A73] with him.

In 403, when the Inceptum announced a recall of all of its students for examination for diabolic corruption, Aquinas made rather a public show of his willingness to relinquish his own student back to the Inceptum. There was really never any concern that [A73] would be deemed corrupt: he wasn't of Dawn descent to begin with, he had been a model student, and his brother Ecclesius was now in charge of the Inceptum. His "examination" consisted mainly of a series of pleasant and relaxed theological conversations with Ecclesius, usually over shared meals, and he was the first of the apprentices to be released, in 404, when he was returned to Lapidis.

Far from making him feel friendly towards the Inceptum, however, this blatant display of nepotism upset and disturbed [A73], who could not help but notice that quite a few of the other recalled apprentices at the Inceptum seemed to be permitted little in the way of sleep, that they were often catechized for hours on end while forced to remain kneeling on hard floors, and not all that infrequently, one of them would burst into tears. Not that [A73] actually wanted to be put through all that, mind. But you know. Still. Hardly seemed fair, really.

[A73]'s discomfiture only increased in 405, when his fellow Inceptum-found apprentice, the younger [A83a], returned to Lapidis, quite obviously having had a much rougher time of it than [A73] himself had. [A83a] and his best friend, [A83b], seemed to hold him somewhat responsible for this; their behavior towards him was decidedly less friendly than it had been previously. Later that year, [A83a] was abducted by the Opacans. When he was returned to the covenant in 406, although it was evident that he had suffered quite badly at the hands of his captors, there seemed to be an unspoken agreement among the elder magi that no one was allowed to speak of it, and further revelations of all of the other excesses of Ecclesius and his followers were similarly off-bounds. [A73], now convinced that both his master and his brother Ecclesius were hypocritical, cynical and corrupt, yet unwilling to confront them directly, withdrew behind a mask of bland and smiling complacency. One year after his ascension to magehood, he professed himself interested in the animal work of the descendants of Sumner and left the covenant to join St. Kevin of the Apples, where he is currently raising his first student.

[A73] maintains an ostensibly loving relationship with Aquinas, who in truth has no idea just how much his second student despises him, and an ostensibly cordial relationship with Ecclesius, who does indeed suspect that his younger brother secretly despises him. [A73] is unfailingly polite, if somewhat prone to the non-committal, and seemingly oblivious to any and all political undercurrents which happen to wash his way. Nearly everyone believes him to be somewhat obtuse, and hopelessly naive when it comes to politics.
