filius [A60], of Houses Aegidius and Derleth
apprenticed 398; declared mage 413
The protégé of Bethelion's Theophrastian lecturer [A60], Iohannes Monachus is not himself a Theophrastian, although he is deeply sympathetic to their philosophy. Unusually conservative for a Derlethian, he joined the Aegidian covenant St. Kevin-of-the-Apples upon his ascension to magehood in 413.

Monachus?
I'm not entirely certain why Iohannes is named "Monachus," and whether this is an epithet applied to a subset of Aegidians or just a few or just him, but I saw it and liked it and so I bagged it, so.
