A letter to Perdix

Written on the cheapest stock Annalum has, the one the kitchen staff uses to write down grocery lists comes a missive by an Annalum pigeon. The handwritting is clearly skilled but shaky and in parts may take time to decipher.

To the illustrious Perdix Carbonis, Loreatus of the Bethelion Class of 413, Filius of Inclinata Resurgit please accept my belated congratulations on also adding founder of Nemus Animae to your list of accomplishments. You may not remember me as I am nine years your junior, of the class of 422, but the only fault would lie with myself having done little of esteemable worth. If per chance you do remember our few brief encounters within the halls of our hallowed university I pray it is with a kind eye.

In these past few years I have fallen from grace within our shared House of Menere and I would understand if you are unable to help due to House loyalty. Which brings me to the purpose of this letter.

I write to you now as a founder of our Order's most southern covenant and therefore the ideal location with which to start my most recent studies. I assure you I would not attempt to sully your good covenants name by attempting to join, but merely if I would be allowed the humblest of lodgings for no longer then two seasons to conclude my research that lies within easy reach of your walls and then I will be on my way. I do not expect this for nothing, I have already gathered a pitiful amount of vim as payment for such accomodations if you find they are available. One last request is if your library is public I would also be most grateful to any access to the simplest of your texts to help in my furthering studies before I depart for regions beyond my ken.

May Love and Reason guide you,
Receptrix Lata, filia Syzygia Grandis, of House Manere

via columba nonus Mercy 425 in Love and Reason—

Receptrix Lata filia Syzygia Grandis of House Manére Perdix Carbonis Loreat sends greetings. If you are well then it is well for we are well. How kind it is of you to write and how much more pleasant the news that you will visit. You must not falsely claim a modesty that so ill-suits you for of course we remember how brightly your star shone. Your investiture in the House at Nox Facis was the high point of the 418 Conjugation and we still remember with great delight the remarkable trick you pulled on Aquilonia and her student Tydfal whose name it seems has stayed pretty much the same. Do not speak of lustre or esteem on our part or sullying on yours for we should each both be beyond such trivial niceties. I have spoken with the other magi for we are a plenilunial covenant and it is agreed a room awaits you for as long as you may need it. We hope to do whatever it is we might to aid you in your further studies for the greater glory of the House and Order. One thing we do ask if you are passing within the ken of some of the more complete libraries is this. Whatever scraps or pages or quires of dream-lore you are able to copy and bring with you for our perusal would be much appreciated. Having said that we must insist that pages or no we greatly look forward to your arrival.
