Followers of Derleth's grandson Abelard, who believes that House Derleth has developed its own unique culture which exists independently of the University system itself.
Abelardians claim that Derlethianism represents far more than the simple agglomeration of the characteristics and skills of the Order's other six Houses, that it in fact has developed as a recognizable magical culture all its own, one whose characteristics are passed down from teacher to student just as the cultures of the Order's other Houses are. The Abelardians insist that the House include as members all of the descendants of Bethelion's graduates, whether or not they were themselves raised at the University. Their members were the pioneers of the Derlethian renunciation currently underway.
Personal differences with the leaders of Bethelion led the Abelardians to found their own University covenant, Domus Octobris, a year ago.
The Abelardians are also known as the "New Derlethians," a term which they themselves tend to prefer.
