filia Lynx, of House Cristofer
apprenticed 350; mage 365; died 401

Felchester 350-401

Raised in Amicitian fellowship alongside T50, by Lynx of House Cristofer and Chrysolitha of House Touccio at the Covenant at Felchester. While she and T50 had no serious disagreements, they were not all that close in spite of their Amicitian upbringing: T50 left Felchester upon her graduation to magehood to join the Melians at the Covenant of St. Cyrynthia, while C63 would remain at Felchester for the rest of her life.

A specialist in drugs and potions, she was particularly interested in obscure and exotic substances and in magics of personal transformation. Her research into the uses of some of the more unusual potions components was both thorough and impeccable, and her early writings on the subject are considered requisite (if minor) material for any serious herbalist mage within the Order. Her lab notes, edited and published by her first student [C82] after her death, are considered particularly valuable for the insight they provide into what certain drugs and spells feel like from the point of view of the target: C63 had strong moral and religious objections to the use of human experimental subjects, and she therefore experimented exclusively on herself.

The same practices which have made C63's writings so valuable to the Order, however, also led to a number of problems at Felchester. For a time in the 380s, her addiction to a number of exotic and expensive drug compounds threatened to bankrupt the covenant, and her colleagues were forced to keep her restrained until she could be rid of her habits. Her experimentation with various transformative potions over time caused her behavior--and occasionally her appearance as well--to become decidedly erratic, a situation which only grew worse as the years passed. Although she had initially taken over her parens Lynx's role as healer to the villagefolk after Lynx's death in 378, by the end of the 380s, the villagers had all but stopped seeking the magi's aid at all except in cases of very dire emergency: they had all too often found C63 too off-putting, or even too frightening, to want to risk an encounter with her.

She died early in 401, after a period of unusually intensive potions experimentation. The magi of Felchester have refused to divulge any of the details of her death, but their tight-lipped responses to all inquiries--as well as the fact that it was followed almost immediately by the people of Felchester requesting that the magi leave their village--has led many to suspect that it was a traumatic, perhaps even violent, event. Her orphaned apprentice was adopted after her death by the last remaining magi of Covenant Felchester, who abandoned the covenant to move en masse to Covenant Plenilunium Album shortly thereafter.
