filia Mavis Loriata, of House Derleth
apprenticed 405; mage 424
Antrum 405-
Raised at Covenant Antrum by the outspoken Elizabethan Mavis Loriata, she was kept in apprenticeship for nineteen years, as Mavis refused to acknowledge her as a mage until she was able to exhibit competence in the particular skills and specialties of all six Houses of the Order.
In 424, however, the First Melian Speaker Metella refused to recognize her as an Aegidian at all, citing both her extensive combat experience and her outspoken Ursulanism as evidence that she was not dedicating herself fully to the precepts of e chao omnia, and was therefore not an appropriate candidate for membership in House Aegidius. Metella suggested that since House Derleth had now been recognized by the entire Order, there was no longer any particular reason for House Aegidius to continue to accept Derlethians into their body: let Derlethians be Derlethians, she said, and let Melians return at long last to being Aegidians.
This was not a popular decision among the Derlethian Melians, a handful of whom--[D13]'s parens Mavis among them--responded by renouncing House Aegidius in protest. There are others, however--mainly, the New Derlethian followers of Abelard , who view it as an important step in the development of House Derleth as a truly independent seventh house of the Order.
[D13] is the first mage in the Order never to have belonged to any House other than House Derleth. She is currently heavily involved in planning the founding of a new Ursulan covenant, a project which she and her parens have been keeping secret from the rest of Covenant Antrum, and has been occupied mainly in scribing copies of some of the more unique and rare books of Antrum's library.
