After roughly 27 years of study, Giles has a solid grounding in all the arts, though less so in the elements apart from Vis and has ended up with a strong emphasis on Muto. In fact, he is stronger in his arts than spells, although his mastery of Magic Theory allows him better than usual results in spontaneous spell-casting.
Giles, like Asonder, has picked up from his time in Arcadia the habit of talking to his surrounding before and during casting magic. He finds it very important to know and understand one's surroundings before casting significant magic, which is what he has been attempting to do in the first months at Nemus Animae when he wasn't busy helping to establish the new Covenant. Part of the result of all this prodding and exploring was a prodigious Vis harvest on Giles' part as well as a mapping of the best sources for any particular source of Vis. He's probably discovered some magic hot spots as well, though he might not yet know their full nature.
Also like Asonder, Giles rarely raises his parma during the day and then only if he suspects there's something dangerous in store. Because like his parens, Giles enjoys drinking, good food and sex too much. Oh, and, appreciating beauty as well. He does habitually cast parma at night, partly as a result of the night terrors he's experienced since Arcadia, partly because it's an excellent way to wake up promptly at dawn.
At this point in time, it's probably most accurate to say that Giles is a Muto mage. He suspects he's destined to be a Herbam mage, given his sigal, which manifests itself in plant effects: vines in his hair, bark appearance to a healed wound, a brightening and/or blooming of vegetation near him, the smell of herbs and so on. Giles has a tendency to eat any of the vegetation that suddenly appears on his person.
Which probably pleases Asonder, but hardly excites Giles, it's definitely not where his passion is. Problem is, Giles doesn't know what his passion is or even what he'd like it to be.
In lieu of a distinct direction of study, Giles has decided to pursue further studies in Intellego with a slant towards Terram and Animal this coming winter season. And during his autumn romp about Tympania will be looking for texts on this or discuss the aspects with various magi he encounters.
