On oatmeal rag-stock with a nicked seal again, although this time the penmanship is less formal (ie, it’s just excellent penmanship as opposed to prize-winning penmanship suitable for framing.)
Nil Admirari to Equus Sine Equite, in regrettable haste of hand and spirit.
Giles:
I am glad to hear that your impressions of me have not gone overly sour with age (instances of hastily penned doggerel aside). I am also pleased to hear that the errant limb finds itself in a better state of repair. I myself obviously have some familiarity with matters of impairment, and know quite well what a detriment to spirit they can become if left untended.
On the subject of acquaintances (and, I suppose, impairments), indeed I was decently well-associated with Shotik, as well as his sister. Given the present circumstance, however, it is unfair of me to claim good knowledge of Perdix Carbonis qua Perdix Carbonis. This is a deficit which will indubitably be repaired in the coming months.
In regards to my agency, I appreciate your frank response. My duties constitute a single thread, drawn through the eye of my House and guided by the fine needle that is our Order. However it is not the needle I serve, but the tapestry upon which it works, and I need hardly tell you what is represented by such a tapestry. If it becomes my duty to bind in errant threads, so be it, but it is far from my favorite pastime. In short, I come both Reasonably and with Love, and (with some optimism) I hope this to be sufficient for the purposes of all parties.
As to the climate of Gaetan, I do not hold any personal concerns (not so for its less literal climates, naturally). I have been living in what amounts to Gaetani terrain for some time, and am well acquainted with its fussy moods and long bouts of sulk. I look forward to the onset of the chiller weather, as it encourages the rediscovery of forgotten books and heavy blankets. After several years in deprivation of proper candle wax, however, I am afraid that the smell of belching tallows has made me rather grim about the onset of nightfall. It is my deep hope that your relative proximity to the capital city provides you with superior amenities than those to which I am now accustomed.
In a related vein, the somewhat indirect nature of your route to Nemus Animae disturbs me not in the slightest. It has been some time since I have properly stretched my legs, and mine are rather too long to have been sated with minor wanderings about local dells. I will welcome the acquaintance of your sister in particular, and am sure that the presence of your other passengers (so to speak) will be wholly engaging. I have not spoken to Receptrix Lata in some time and will be interested to see the development of her character in recent years. And of course I shall be quite pleased to spend a few passing moments at Manu Tenere.
Overall I shall be most pleased to remake our acquaintance. I’m afraid that my blindness was figurative as much as literal during my time at Bethelion, at least in regards to those younger than I. Alas, there is no Touccian remedy for such an affliction, but your presence I hope shall be an effective salve.
Continuing regards,
Nil Admirari, filius Quartus Oriens, of House Cristofer

Needle and thread indeed.
Giles has decided that he's going to find Nil either vastly entertaining or greatly annoying--or, more likely, some combination of the two.
As Gi is probably leaving the day after he recieves this letter, I doubt a much of written response is forthcoming, just an acknowledgement of reciept along with one to Caleth, to redeliver the pigeon and confirm arrival. Which might arrive to Annalum the same day he does.
God, that poor pigeon.
God, that poor pigeon.
Nil can go a bit Holier Than Thou when he gets cranky, tired, or enlisted. Does it show?
As for Gi, I think he's Nil's best prospect for a decent friend at Nemus Animae. And Nil has done his research in this matter. As in all matters.
