Old Derlethian

Term for the interpretation of Derlethianism favored by the elders of Bethelion, who believe that membership in the new House ought be granted only to graduates of magical universities. Originally coined as a term of contempt by the >Abelardians, the name has by now lost its negative connotation and is simply used to refer to what many still perceive as the mainstream of the new House Derleth. The "Old Derlethians" do not feel that descendants of University graduates ought be recognized as members of the House unless they themselves were trained within a university system. The Derlethian renunciation of the past few years has, however, begged the question of just what is to become of the descendants of the Derlethian renunciates if they are forbidden from claiming membership in House Derleth.
