Members of the female branch of House Savacion, descended from the political meddler Decor, have always borne far more resemblance to Manereans than to Savacions in their preferred methods of dealing with intra-Order politics, and the apprenticeship of Genae Rosae was no exception. Fully aware of House Savacion's feelings about cross-sex apprenticeship, Rosa Rosea nonetheless claimed Genae as her protege, succeeding in convincing Bethelion's Board to allow this only through great effort and more than a little politicking. Upon his ascension to magehood in 416, he joined Covenant Tres Regni. Rosa Rosea had intended to present her student as a 'coup' at the 418 gauntlet at Leo Compulsus, but her aunt and rival, the Tres Regnian Nix Nivea, foiled her plans by convincing Genae that a group of Savacion magi had formed a conspiracy to murder him in the course of his gauntlet. He therefore declined to appear at all, and he was never recognized by House Savacion, although Annalum entered him among the members of that House on their own lists and records.
A close friend and ally of Bethelion's first Loriat, Vyras Loriatus, Genae shared Vyras's outrage over House Cristofer's obstruction of Derlethian independence; in 422, he chose to express this disapproval by travelling to Evasendia and volunteering to help Abelard lead the students of Bethelion to the Skulstorren for the second rogue hunt. What Genae had not realized was that many within House Savacion were in fact utterly unaware of his very existence; when he showed up to join them, revelation of his sex and parentage very nearly started a pitched battle among the Savacions, and he was commanded to submit to gauntlet at once if he wished even to be considered for membership in the House. He responded by flamboyantly renouncing House Savacion altogether, and then returned to Evasendia, where he became a vocal agitator for Derlethian Renunciation. He returned to Tres Regni in 424.
