In 325, when the Plenilunial magi were informed of problems at its "annexe" at Stony Hill, Fax Lunaris volunteered to move to the offshoot covenant both to help out its magi and to complete the training of its founder Spatha's now-orphaned apprentice. Dismayed by the lack of organization and coordination he found at Stony Hill, he quickly assumed command of the covenant in spite its officially egalitarian Plenilunial charter; under his charismatic leadership, the Covenant at Stony Hill managed to keep afloat for another fifteen years.
When a severe drought struck the area in 339, however, Fax Lunaris was unable to retain the loyalty of the covenfolk, who began deserting in droves, nor to prevent the death of his colleague [A22b] from illness exacerbated by the poor conditions at the covenant, nor to prevent the local tribesmen of the region from holding the magi accountable for the drought itself. He was killed in 341, attempting to repel a native attack on the covenant. Although his adopted filius Falx Astartis did succeed in repulsing the attackers shortly after his death, Covenant Stony Hill was abandoned not long after.
His two students and their descendants would later fall to quarrelling over which of them was truly worthy of being reckoned his "son."
