("The Diamond")
filius Margarita, of House Touccio
apprenticed 407; mage 422
Hart's Desire: 407-
The clumsy and accident-prone Adamas had the great misfortune to be apprenticed by a mage who specialized in glassworks. Throughout his apprenticeship he went by the nickname "Taurus," and although Margarita was far too kind to continue the bull-in-a-glassworks motif when she granted him his mage name, she was not able to resist some reference to his unfortunate effect on nearby glass: she named him Adamas, the Diamond.
While not well-suited to work in glass, Adamas is nonetheless extremely skilled at other forms of craftsmanship, particularly masonry and smithing -- stone and metal are more forgiving of being knocked off of shelves than glass and crystal are, and also tend to respond much better to the "if it doesn't work, try giving it a good hard whack" school of tinkering. He has chosen to remain at Hart's Desire, where he seems to have adopted a somewhat New Traditionalist approach to his role within the covenant: since his graduation to magehood, he has taken it upon himself to embark on a massive restoration of the covenant's physical structure, much of which was indeed beginning to show the ravages of age. Adamas can often be found crawling around inside the covenant's ducts or diving underwater to check on its foundations. He is never without his tools, which he enchanted himself as the final project of his apprenticeship, and in which he takes great pride.
