The Litans Petition the West 0 comments

The magi of Virginis In Litus soon found that among the native plants of their island was a type of hallucinogenic berry which greatly enhanced the potency of their experimental dream magics. By the end of 357, they had discovered that through their dreaming, they were able to defend their island from both magical and physical approach, replicating through different means the notorious Prima Luxian defenses which had so obsessed the Quintus Opacans. This new-found ability enabled the Litans to protect themselves, but it also led Prima Lux to view the new covenant as a direct threat. From 357 on, Regulus and his followers were to become increasingly devoted to the notion that Virginis In Litus must be destroyed.

The magi of Virginis In Litus had up to this point tried to keep their conflict with the Prima Luxians a secret from the rest of the Order, fearing that should violence once more erupt between West and Dawn, they themselves would likely be the first to be destroyed. Now that they were in possession of a covenant of their own, however, and one with excellent defenses against the outside world, they began petitioning the rest of House Manere to force the Prima Luxians to desist from aggression against their new covenant.

Private correspondence with the Western Manereans, however, proved discouraging. The Plenilunials' commitment to the Manerean peace made them reluctant to risk offending Prima Lux by defending the Litans. The Opponents of the Dawn, on the other hand, considered the new covenant to be nothing more than an offshoot of Prima Lux; they viewed the dispute as an internal matter between two groups of equally-diabolist magi, and were perfectly happy to sit back and hope that the Dawn covenants might destroy one another. In 358, therefore, the magi of Virginis In Litans resolved to bring the matter to the attention of the Prima Manere herself at the Twenty-fifth Manere Conjugation at Plenilunium Album.
