The Savacion House Gauntlets from 398, the year in which they first started being held as (somewhat more) formal affairs at Covenant Leo Compulsus.
For each one, I've given a list of that year's candidates, as well as a short description of the overall tenor of the event. I've also linked to a "more about" phantom for each the individual gauntlet years; I figure that it might be useful to have a designated place where we can jot down all of the various stories and anecdotes and ideas about what went down at the gauntlets. (This might be a useful thing to have for the Manerean Conjugations too, now that I think about it)....
All of the First Melian Speakers (damn, but the Melians have repetitive names!). Some of these folks need naming too.
All of the First Speakers of House Aegidius. Some of these guys need names.
Faction of Derlethians who believe that Derleth is a proper house defined by descent rather than University training.
The Circulan Schism and its on-going blood feud.
Small groups of magi who share a house and live among villagers as eccentric mundanes, buying their own supplies at the local markets, doing their own cleaning, and relying for protection only on whatever local police force or military exists to protect the residents of the area.
For many years, the only female members of House Touccio were the descendants of Balbo's grandaughter, Daenae. "Daughters of Daenae" technically refers to the members of these Cholaeic lines, but it is often also used to refer to any female members of House Touccio.
Movement begun three years ago when members of House Derleth began to renounce their other House affiliations and claim status as Derlethians alone.
Members of the Order's newest House, House Derleth, which was founded only seven years ago in 418. House Derleth is still struggling to establish firm policies regarding its membership qualifications. Members of the House are currently divided into a number of different factions, each with its own ideas of who should be considered "Derlethian." (See entries for Mavan Derlethians, >Abelardian Derlethians, and "Old Derlethians") The term is most commonly used, however, to refer to those magi raised at the University Covenant, Bethelion.
Third century school of House Lem, progenitor of the Westmarchite and Linguan schools.
Schism which occurred at Covenant Westmarch from 301 to 303, eventually leading to the abandonment of the original Gravite School of House Lem in favor of two new schools: the Westmarchite School and the Linguan School.
House Lem is the most isolationist of the houses. Most of its members belong to pure Lemmite covenants (e.g. Westmarch, Ambulator Caeruleus and Sol Caerulius, Argutator Purpureus and Quintus Opacus), and Lemmites who belong to mixed house covenants are viewed...
House Savacion is the military house of the Order. Savacion mages are generally interested in combat magic, either personal or military, and are rarely interested in theoretical issues. They have only one, recently founded, single house covenant (Leo Compulsus), and most covenants (with the exception of the Lemmite covenants and the single house covenants of Touccio and Christopher) have Savacion members. Although Savacions are generally associated with conservative politics within the Order, there are Savacion mages associated with the Plenelunial movement as well. Fueding between the conservative and Plenelunial Savacions in the late 4th century (starting around 50 years ago) resulted in the Rogue Hunt. Leo Compulsus was founded in the aftermath of the Rogue Hunt in order to police the House. After a long struggle to select a single house ruler (the First Sword), a political settlement was reached in which the house was organized into (predominantly lineage based) Gens, each with a single Dux. The question of inheritance of the Ducal title has yet to be answered.
One of the major sects of House Lem, currently viewed by many as the "mainstream" of the House.
Current roster of magi at Leo Compulsus (as of 425).
Stuff that happened at the Savacion Gauntlet of 408.
Term for the interpretation of Derlethianism favored by the elders of Bethelion, who believe that membership in the new House ought be granted only to graduates of magical universities.
Oath taken by members of House Cristofer to spend one season out of every year in service to the Order. Exactly what constitutes "service to the Order" has never been specified.
A magical school founded in the 350s by Maris of House Aegidius and Veprescula of House Manere, both of them of Covenant Plenilunium Album, whence the movement derives its name. It would perhaps more accurately be called "Chalycidican Elementalism." Plenilunial Elementalists use Chalycidican invocations to call upon one of twelve known elemental spirits to aid them in casting Cholaeic magic.
A timeline of events of particular importance to the Plenilunial Elementalist movement.
The purpureans are a small, recently founded (developed around 404) school of Lemmitism....
Followers of the teachings of the Aegidian hermit Theophraste the Younger, who believed all Cholaeic magic save the art of intellego to be fundamentally Demiurgic. Theophraste was particularly insistent that creo be abandoned, as he considered it a direct replication of the Demiurgic function of the material creation of the world. A number of Theophraste's later disciples softened his teachings, claiming that magi should merely use particular caution when practicing magic rather than eschewing it altogether. Hard-line Theophrastians, however, refuse to demonstrate proficiency in any art save intellego; they are therefore not often recognized as magi by the Order. The most extreme followers of Theophraste believe any act of material creation to be Demiurgic; they hold that the Demiurge is female, and that the act of giving birth is a crime against Holy Wisdom. There are a number of Theophrastians among the mundane monks of the Aegidian Order; the movement is particularly active at Lapidis.
Originally set forth by the Touccian magus Balbo, the Touccian obligation is the idea that the members of House Touccio, because of their their unique skills and understanding of the phenomenal world, have a special obligation to protect other magi...
