A Plenilunial Elementalist, raised at Covenant Whitestone. In 385, he accompanied his parens Aestus Animae and Meles of Hart's Desire in travelling the Order demanding justice for Vertagus' killer and interrogating suspect members of his House. He was present for Siccoculus' death in 390, after which he returned with Meles to Covenant Hart's Desire. Later that year he declined to return with his parens to Whitestone, which he considered completely unsalvagable. He was to remain at Hart's Desire for the rest of his life.

Canis Rufus was a supporter of Meles' filia Pantera during the Savacion political struggles of the fifth century until the year 418, when for reasons unknown he became far more ambivalent and evasive on the subject of the necessity of a First Sword for the House. In 421, he left Hart's Desire to join the second Savacion rogue hunt, on which he was killed by diabolic attack in the Skulstorren in 422.
